Privacy Policy
We ask for the least we can and still pay you correctly. This page says exactly what we collect, why, who else sees it, and how to make us delete it.
Who we are
SellUsedRAM is operated by Atlas ITAD LLC, a Rhode Island limited liability company. For anything on this page, write to quotes@sellusedram.com and put "Privacy" in the subject line.
What we collect
When you request a quote
- Your email address. This is the only contact detail we require, because it is how we send the quote.
- Your ZIP or postal code, which we use to work out shipping and nothing else.
- Your name and phone number, both optional. We only ask for a phone number if you tell us you want a call.
- Your preferred payout method.
- Details of the hardware you want to sell: part numbers, quantities, condition, brand, any message you write, and serial numbers if you choose to give them. Serial numbers are optional at quote time and are used to check provenance and to prepare wipe certificates.
When you sign up for price alerts
Your email address, plus a record of which parts you asked to be alerted about. Alerts use double opt-in, so nothing is sent until you confirm from a link we email you, and every alert carries an unsubscribe link.
Automatically, when you browse
- Your IP address, which we store as a one-way hash rather than in readable form. We use it to rate-limit abuse and to spot automated form submissions.
- Your browser's user agent string, and the pages you requested.
- How you arrived, including the referring site and any advertising click identifier such as a Google gclid or campaign tags in the link you followed.
Why we collect it
To price your hardware and send you a quote, to arrange shipping and pay you if you accept, to produce data-wipe certificates for storage devices, to keep the site from being abused by bots and list-bombers, to meet our tax and accounting obligations, and to understand which advertising actually brings us genuine sellers.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for anyone else's advertising. We use a small number of service providers who process data on our behalf:
- Postmark delivers our email. It receives your email address and the contents of messages we send you.
- EasyPost produces shipping labels. When you accept an offer and we arrange a shipment, it receives the name and address needed to create that label.
- Google measures our advertising. See the section below, which explains precisely what Google receives.
- Our hosting provider stores the site and its database on servers in the United States.
We will also disclose information where the law requires it, or where we need to investigate equipment that may have been stolen.
Advertising measurement and hashed contact data
We advertise on Google. To find out whether an advertisement actually led to a quote request, rather than guessing, we send Google a record when a quote is submitted.
That record can include a hashed version of your email address. Hashing is one way: your browser converts the address into an irreversible string before it is sent, so Google does not receive a readable email address from us, and the hash cannot be turned back into your address. Google compares that hash against its own signed-in accounts to tell us that an advertisement worked. This is Google's "enhanced conversions" feature. Google's handling of the data is governed by its own privacy policy.
We may also later tell Google the value of a completed purchase, matched to that same hashed record, so our advertising is judged on real business rather than on form submissions.
If you would rather we did not include your hashed email in this measurement, email us and we will exclude you. You can also opt out of personalized Google advertising at adssettings.google.com.
Cookies and local storage
We keep this deliberately light. The site sets a session cookie so forms work and so we can protect them against cross-site request forgery. It stores a small attribution record in your browser's local storage for up to 90 days, so that if you return later we still know which link first brought you here. Google's advertising tag sets its own cookies for the measurement described above. We do not run any general analytics product, and we do not use advertising trackers from any other company.
How long we keep it
We keep quote requests and the records of any purchase for as long as we need them to complete the transaction, to honour our own guarantees, and to satisfy tax, accounting, and anti-theft obligations. Price-alert subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Server logs are kept for a short operational period and then rotate away. You can ask us to delete your data sooner, as described next.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to do any of the following, and we will not treat you any differently for asking:
- Tell you what personal information we hold about you.
- Give you a copy of it.
- Correct anything that is wrong.
- Delete it, unless we are required to keep a record for tax or legal reasons.
- Stop using it for advertising measurement.
Email quotes@sellusedram.com with "Privacy" in the subject. We will reply within 30 days. We may need to confirm you control the email address in question before we act, which protects you as much as us.
California residents have these rights under the CCPA as amended, including the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them. To restate it plainly, because the law asks us to be explicit: we have not sold personal information, and we have not shared it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
People outside the United States
We buy from sellers abroad, and we are happy to. If you are outside the United States, be aware that your information is stored and processed in the United States, where privacy law differs from your own. Send us a quote request only if you are content with that.
Children
This site is meant for businesses and adults selling their own hardware. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has sent us information, email us and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and change the date at the top. We will not apply a materially different use to information we already hold without telling the people affected.
