Server Network Card Part Numbers Decoded: Intel and NVIDIA Mellanox
By the SellUsedRAM bench · Reviewed September 28, 2026 · About SellUsedRAM
A server network card is priced by its controller, port count and speed, and the product code on the label gives all three. This page shows how to read Intel and NVIDIA (Mellanox) codes and lists the 11 cards we buy, with every number each one goes by and what it pays today.
Intel Ethernet adapters
An Intel code names the controller and the ports. X710-DA2 is the X710 controller with two SFP+ ports, and DA4 has four. XXV710-DA2 has two 25GbE SFP28 ports, X550-T2 two 10GBASE-T copper ports, and E810-XXVDA2 two 25GbE ports on the newer E810 controller. Intel sells each card under several ordering codes, such as X710DA2, X710DA2BLK and X710DA2G1P5, and the table lists the ones Intel publishes for each card.
NVIDIA Mellanox ConnectX adapters
NVIDIA's ordering numbers start with MCX and name the ConnectX generation and the card's configuration: MCX4121A is a ConnectX-4 Lx dual-port 25GbE card, MCX512A a ConnectX-5 dual-port 25GbE card, MCX516A a ConnectX-5 dual-port 100GbE card, and MCX631102A a ConnectX-6 Lx dual-port 25GbE card. The letters before the dash mark options on the same card. On the ConnectX-6 Lx, NVIDIA's table gives AN for no crypto and no secure boot, AE for crypto, AS for secure boot, and AC for both. A second label on the card carries NVIDIA's regulatory model, such as CX631102A, which covers every variant.
HPE, Lenovo, and other OEM cards
Server makers sell the same cards under their own names and numbers, with their own firmware. HPE's part lookup ties the HPE 562SFP+ to the X710-DA2, the 563SFP+ to the X710-DA4, the 640SFP28 to the ConnectX-4 Lx and the 642SFP28 to the ConnectX-5 25GbE card. The FlexibleLOM versions, such as the 562FLR-SFP+, are a different form factor and a different item. The table lists the HPE option and spare numbers and the Lenovo option numbers we could confirm.

FAQ
My number is not in the table. Do you still buy it?
Often, yes. The tables hold the numbers we could confirm, not everything we buy. Paste the number into the quote form, or photograph the label.
Is a single card worth sending?
Yes. There is no minimum, and the prepaid label is free on every accepted quote. Cards are tested for link and port function on our bench.
Does an OEM card pay less than the retail one?
We price the card by its controller, ports and condition. Send the number from the label, whichever one it is, and the quote names the card.
Number decoded? The quote form turns it into a firm figure within four business hours. Server lots go through the bulk desk, priced line by line against the same index.
